The Chippewa boot company was founded in Chippewa, Wisconsin, in 1901, offering specialized boots for lumberjacks. These "logger boots" became the foundation of the Chippewa product line. Constructed of double and triple leather midsoles and hand-plugged outsole spikes, the boots were designed to assist loggers as they rolled logs down the rivers to the mills. Based on that state-of-the-art boot, Chippewa gained a reputation for quality and began expanding the product line. Today, Chippewa offers a wide range of styles, from hikers to motorcycle boots.
